Do you have gaps in your smile?
Dental implants from Hook Dental, Hampshire are a long lasting solution to missing teeth that look, feel and work like the real thing.
It is possible to firmly attach a single crown to an artificial titanium root known as a dental implant. The result is a secure, fixed tooth that won’t wobble, fall out or prevent you from eating the foods you love. The vast majority of dental implant work we do is for the fixed replacement of a single strategically important tooth.
Reasons for dental implants
- Replace a missing tooth or teeth in your smile line
- Restore the mouth’s function with a back chewing tooth
- Provide a secure anchor for dentures & bridges
- Boost your smile and your confidence
When teeth are lost the bone that held them in your jaw will shrink. Placement of dental implants can preserve this bone, maintaining the shape and structure of the lips and cheeks.
The key benefits of implants at Hook Dental
- Allow you to smile naturally and with confidence
- Eat and chew comfortably and efficiently
- Replace a missing tooth without causing any damage to adjacent teeth, which is usually necessary with more traditional techniques
- Reduce wear and tear, movement and bite problems on the teeth near the gaps
- The most cost effective, longest lasting and least invasive solution
What is a Dental Implant?
An implant comes in two parts. The first is an artificial root made from titanium that replaces the root of a missing tooth. It can be placed in either the upper or lower jaw and, in time (3-6 months), will bond or integrate with your own jaw bone. The implant is placed via a small surgical procedure that is carried out painlessly under a local anaesthetic (the area made numb).
The second part is what is visibly attached to the dental implant root. For those missing one tooth, a natural-looking crown will be created to perfectly match your existing teeth. If you have a full set of dentures, a full arch of teeth can be permanently attached to four or six dental implant roots - you don’t need one implant root for every missing tooth you have.
How long do implants last?
In a healthy person with a healthy mouth and bone, implant roots (the metal part) should last as long as your natural teeth. They need caring for as natural teeth do. The crowns or bridges supported by the implants can last a decade or more.
Will treatment hurt?
All treatment is carried out under a local anaesthetic (the area made numb). Dental implant treatment is a minor surgical procedure that has been performed for many years, with an excellent success rate.
When can dental implants be used?
Dental implants can be used for a wide range of treatment from one implant to replace one missing tooth, two implants to secure a bridge, through to multiple implants to replace all the teeth in the mouth with an implant supported denture or a fixed implant bridge.
How much do dental implants cost?
Dental implant treatment starts from £2,500.00 for a single implant, with the cost typically spread over the duration of treatment, which can range from 6 months to 2 years for complex cases. Over time, dental implants will prove to be the most cost-effective solution to replacing missing teeth. Although the initial outlay may appear high, considered over say, a 20-year period, the ongoing cost of dentures or fixed bridges could be much greater.
